I.         Program Overview

Master of World Economics was established in Anhui University of Finance and Economics with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2005 and had began to recruit students since 2007. There are four tutors in this discipline,Youguang Zhao, Xiang Dai, Jiexiang Xu and Qiuying Ge, and Professor Youguang Zhao is in charge of the discipline.

 

The goal of the graduate programs is to cultivate high-quality talents who are developed morally, intellectually and physically, and are well-equipped with theoretical knowledge of world economy, global strategic vision, innovation consciousness and research ability, to be able to competent for work like teaching, policy researching, as well as stategy composing for the internationalization of governments and enterprises. Students are also required to be proficient in a foreign language.

 

II.        Discipline Advantages

This discipline is strongly therotetical and widely covered. Its research objects include the economic relations among the countries in the world, and the combination and operation of global economic resources, and its research scopes and contents are increasingly expanding with the economic globalization. There are three research directions have been set up in this discipline.

 

a)       Regional Economic Integration and Economic Cooperation

This direction focuses on training students to grasp relevant theories to analyze the current status, trend and influence of the development of regional economic cooperation worldwide, and to study on the relationship between regional economy and economic globalization, the theories and policies of international economic relations, and the strategies of regional economic cooperation in China's foreign economy and trade. This direction also pays attention to develop students’ ability of engaging in research work and practical work, and strengthen their competitiveness and adaptablity in a constantly changing employment environment.

 

b)       International Investment and Industrial Transfer

This direction pays attention to the theory and policy research of transnational formula and industrial structure adjustment, and develops students' theoretical and empirical analysis ability to accurately grasp and predict the new characteristics and trends of international industrial transfer and its application in practice.

 

c)        World Cultural Industry and Cultural Trade

The establishment of this direction is a pioneer in China. The development of world cultural industry and cultural trade will be an important direction of China’s economic and social development in the future, as it. conforms to the development strategy of building a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society. The consumption of cultural products, whose influence is far greater than that of ordinary goods, can deepen the understanding between countries, promote exchanges and the trade of ordinary goods. In international trade, third-rate countries sell goods, second-rate countries sell technology and first-rate countries sell culture. Graduates of this direction are responsible for improving China's trade of cultural products, and contributing to make China become a major trading country of cultural products as soon as possible.
